Aurangabad’s Diwali celebrations turned tragic when 20-year-old Kundan Kumar, home from Kolhapur, died in a road accident. While going to his brother’s in-laws’ house, his motorcycle collided with a tree, also injuring his cousin. This fatal crash plunged his family and community into profound grief, overshadowing the festival of lights with sudden darkness.

Aurangabad, Bihar – What began as a joyous Diwali celebration for a family in Aurangabad tragically ended in profound sorrow on the festival of lights. Twenty-year-old Kundan Kumar, who had returned home from Kolhapur just three days prior to partake in the festivities, lost his life in a devastating road accident on Diwali night, turning the family’s festive spirit into an unbearable nightmare.

The incident occurred near Murli Bigha village on the Shivganj-Rafiganj main road, under the Madanpur police station jurisdiction. Kundan, a resident of Kurgaai village, Mali police station area, was riding his motorcycle with his cousin, Sonu Kumar from Devchi Bigha village, Amba police station area. They were en route to Kundan’s elder brother’s in-laws’ house when their bike reportedly veered off the road and collided with a tree. It is speculated that dazzling lights from an oncoming vehicle or a sudden swerve might have caused the bike to lose control.

Passersby discovered the injured duo by the roadside and promptly alerted emergency services (Dial 112). Police swiftly arrived at the scene and transported both to the Sadar Hospital. Tragically, doctors declared Kundan Kumar deceased upon examination. His cousin, Sonu Kumar, sustained serious injuries and was referred for advanced treatment after receiving primary care.

The news shattered Kundan’s family, who rushed to the hospital. Their grief was palpable as they confronted the sudden loss of their youngest son. Kundan, who worked in a private company in Kolhapur, had brought an air of festivity upon his return for Diwali. Now, his untimely death has cast a pall of gloom over his home and the entire community, leaving villagers deeply heartbroken and mourning a life cut short.
