Amroha E-Rickshaw Accident: Six Women Injured Heading for Ganga Snan on Diwali Amavasya

Six women sustained injuries, three critically, after their e-rickshaw overturned in Amroha’s Rehra area. The incident occurred on Monday as the women were en route to Ganga Snan on Amavasya, a day before Diwali. Police rushed the injured to a local hospital, with the seriously wounded subsequently referred for advanced medical care, casting a pall over festive preparations.

Amroha, Uttar Pradesh – A distressing incident unfolded on Monday in Amroha district when an e-rickshaw carrying women pilgrims overturned, leaving six individuals injured. The accident occurred in the Rehra police station area as the women were on their way to take a holy dip in the sacred Ganga on Amavasya, a significant ritual observed on the eve of Diwali. Three of the injured women are reported to be in critical condition and have been referred to higher medical centers for specialized treatment.

The mishap took place on the Pourara Dhal in Rehra early Monday morning. The women, hailing from Sheetla Sarai village under the Adampur police station jurisdiction, were embarking on their traditional Ganga Snan before commencing Diwali puja. During the journey, their e-rickshaw unexpectedly flipped, causing multiple injuries. Among those hurt were Seema Devi, Bhoori Devi, Murti Devi, Rajjo, and Pushpa.

Local police swiftly responded to the scene, ensuring the injured were immediately transported to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Rehra. Following initial assessment and first aid, the condition of Seema Devi, Bhoori Devi, and Murti Devi was deemed serious, necessitating their urgent transfer to advanced medical facilities for comprehensive care.

Confirming the incident, Rehra Police Station In-charge, Atveer Singh Chauhan, stated, “An e-rickshaw carrying women pilgrims overturned, resulting in injuries. All the injured were promptly admitted to the hospital for treatment.” Authorities are investigating the precise cause of the e-rickshaw overturning.

This unfortunate accident casts a shadow over the festive preparations, as Ganga Snan on Amavasya holds deep spiritual importance for many, believed to cleanse sins and bring prosperity, especially before the grand celebrations of Diwali. The community fervently hopes for the swift recovery of all those injured in this unfortunate event.
