The incident in Surpura led to the arrest of three individuals. A deeply disturbing incident has emerged from Surpura, a village in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district, where a Dalit truck driver was allegedly subjected to a brutal assault and horrific humiliation, including being forced to consume urine. The shocking event transpired on Diwali day, casting a grim shadow over the festive period, reportedly after the driver refused to operate his truck.

According to preliminary police reports, the victim’s refusal to drive provoked his assailants, who then proceeded to inflict severe physical harm and engage in an act of extreme cruelty. The driver sustained serious injuries during the ordeal and has since been admitted to the district hospital, where he is currently receiving urgent medical care.

Authorities have acted swiftly in response to the heinous crime. Police have confirmed the arrest of three individuals suspected to be involved in the incident. Based on the victim’s detailed complaint, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under relevant sections pertaining to assault and wrongful confinement. Significantly, provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have also been invoked, highlighting the alleged caste-based nature of the crime. The deeply disturbing accusation of forcing the driver to drink urine is under thorough and sensitive investigation.

Senior district officials, including Collector Karoori Lal Meena and Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Pathak, visited the hospitalized driver to ascertain his condition and assure a comprehensive probe. They noted the severity of his injuries and condemned the alleged atrocity, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to justice and preventing such inhumane acts in the community.
