Despite sustained efforts to dismantle existing drug syndicates, new players are swiftly stepping into the vacuum, perpetuating the cycle of addiction and crime.

Investigations following a recent arrest have pinpointed ‘Baban’ alias ‘Mausa Ji’, a resident of Kharari, Sasaram, Bihar, as the new mastermind behind a multi-state brown sugar supply chain. His ascent follows the surrender of ‘Ruby’ alias ‘Bhabhi Ji’, who previously helmed a major drug operation in the region before facing extensive police action and legal charges. Sources indicate that ‘Mausa Ji’ is aided by ‘Suraj Sah’, a close associate, in managing this intricate network.

Authorities recently apprehended Mohammed Raju in the Hindpiri area, seizing 37.91 grams of brown sugar with an estimated street value of 7.5 lakh rupees. Raju confessed to procuring the contraband from Sasaram, intending to deliver it to absconding suspects Mohammed Akib Akhtar and Sahil Nawaz. This arrest has provided crucial insights into ‘Mausa Ji’s’ operational methods, revealing Sasaram as a central hub where suppliers from various states, including Ranchi, converge to collect large consignments.

The Ranchi Police have reiterated their commitment to eradicating this menace. With significant narcotics seizures totaling crores of rupees in the current fiscal year (2024-25), the force is intensifying its crackdown. Officials have confirmed ongoing operations to apprehend ‘Mausa Ji’ and other absconding accomplices, signaling a relentless pursuit to dismantle this dangerous drug enterprise and safeguard the community.
