Electronics Quick Commerce Heats Up: Tata vs. Ambani Battle Begins

By Oct 22, 2025

India’s quick commerce landscape is set for a major shake-up as Reliance Retail and Tata Group expand into electronics. With Reliance’s JioMart offering 30-minute deliveries and Tata’s Croma leveraging BigBasket, a fierce ‘Tata vs. Ambani’ battle is emerging. This move aims to capture the burgeoning market for ‘grab-and-go’ electronics, intensifying competition and reshaping consumer purchasing habits.

The fiercely competitive world of quick commerce is witnessing its next major frontier: electronics. India’s corporate behemoths, Reliance Retail and Tata Group, are making aggressive moves into this rapidly expanding segment, setting the stage for an epic ‘Tata vs. Ambani’ showdown.

Reliance Retail has rolled out a swift 30-minute delivery service for a range of electronic products on its JioMart platform. Initially launched in India’s top 10 cities, this initiative leverages Reliance’s extensive big-box electronic store network to fulfill orders for ‘grab-and-go’ items like smartphones, headphones, and small kitchen appliances. The aim is to establish JioMart as a formidable player in the instant delivery space for electronics.

Not to be outdone, the Tata Group is strategically integrating its electronics retail chain, Croma, with its quick commerce venture, BigBasket. Following a successful pilot in Bengaluru, this partnership is set for broader expansion. Furthermore, BigBasket recently became an Apple reseller, promising 10-minute deliveries for Apple products, signaling Tata’s commitment to capturing this high-value market.

Industry experts believe electronics quick commerce has the potential to outpace even groceries, driven by higher purchase values and evolving consumer behavior. While Amazon and Flipkart currently dominate the broader e-commerce electronics market, the entry of these titans with their robust offline-online integration is poised to significantly intensify competition. Regional players like Vijay Sales and Sangeeta Mobiles, leveraging their local presence, are also vying for a share, ensuring a dynamic and consumer-beneficial battle ahead.
