Diwali Preparedness: DMCH Emergency Services on High Alert, OPD Temporarily Closed
Darbhaga Medical College Hospital (DMCH) is on high alert for Diwali, with its emergency services fully operational 24/7 to manage a potential increase in patients. While OPD services will remain closed, additional medical and nursing teams, enhanced security, and on-call senior doctors ensure comprehensive care. The district administration and fire department are also deploying extensive resources to maintain safety and respond to any incidents during the festival.
Darbhaga Medical College Hospital (DMCH) is bracing for the Diwali festivities by activating its emergency services on high alert. Recognizing the potential for an increase in patient flow during the festival, the hospital has announced that its Out-Patient Department (OPD) will remain closed on October 20th. However, crucial emergency services will be available round-the-clock to ensure immediate medical attention for all critical cases.
To facilitate this preparedness, DMCH administration has deployed additional teams of doctors and nurses. Deputy Superintendent Dr. Surendra Kumar confirmed that physician deployment will follow a robust roster, with all senior doctors remaining on call to provide expert consultation for serious conditions without delay. Special vigilance will be maintained to prevent any inconvenience to patients and their families.
Security measures across the hospital have been significantly bolstered. All security guards are on alert, with directives for heightened vigilance. Furthermore, all health workers and support staff have been instructed to report for duty with full preparedness. The hospital administration urges the public to note the OPD closure and utilize emergency services judiciously for genuine urgent medical needs.
Beyond the hospital, the entire district administration in Darbhaga is on high alert for Diwali. Extensive police deployment, including 1200 personnel, has been arranged for both urban and rural areas to maintain law and order and swiftly respond to any incidents. SSP Jagunath Reddy Jalareddy has directed sub-divisional police officers to identify and take action against illegal firecracker sales, while station house officers are tasked with maintaining presence in densely populated areas. The fire department has also stationed numerous vehicles and personnel across Darbhanga, Beniipur, and Birol sub-divisions, particularly in crowded locations, to quickly address any fire emergencies. Citizens are encouraged to use the 112 helpline for immediate police assistance.
