Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Kufar’ Music Video: Manushi Chhillar’s Performance Sparks Widespread Controversy

By Oct 22, 2025

Diljit Dosanjh’s latest track ‘Kufar’ features Manushi Chhillar in its music video, but her yoga-inspired choreography has ignited significant social media debate. Fans and critics alike are questioning the sequence, with many accusing it of sexualizing yoga, leading to widespread disappointment and strong online backlash against the former Miss World’s performance.

Punjabi music sensation Diljit Dosanjh recently unveiled his much-anticipated track ‘Kufar’, part of his upcoming 2025 album ‘Aura’. Released on October 14th, the music video features a cameo by actress and former Miss World Manushi Chhillar, whose performance has quickly become a focal point of discussion and controversy across social media platforms.

While some fans have lauded the song, a significant segment of the audience has expressed strong disappointment, particularly regarding Chhillar’s choreography. The video depicts her performing group yoga-inspired dance steps, dressed in a pink lace jumpsuit and feathered boots. This sequence has drawn sharp criticism, with many viewers contending that it inappropriately sexualizes traditional yoga practices. Specific yoga poses, such as leg raises (Uttanpadasana) and single-leg balancing postures, are performed in a manner that has been widely deemed unsuitable.

The unconventional choreography has led to questions about how such scenes made it into the final cut, especially given Diljit Dosanjh’s reputation for high-quality productions. Online forums, particularly Reddit, saw a surge of negative comments. One user remarked, “This is probably one of the most cringe-worthy music videos ever seen.” Another highlighted the sensitivity of the issue, stating, “This is really bad. And completely unnecessary. Because for some women, yoga classes are one of the few safe spaces. They are sexualizing that too.” Other comments questioned the judgment of choreographers, and one user sarcastically noted, “What is Manushi doing? She is doing everything but acting.”

The widespread criticism underscores a growing sensitivity among audiences regarding the representation of cultural practices in mainstream media, prompting a broader conversation about artistic choices and their perceived impact.
