Bihar Election 2025: Saharsa Constituencies Finalize 45 Candidates After Scrutiny, Six Nominations Rejected

As the first phase of Bihar Election 2025 nominations concludes, Saharsa district’s four assembly constituencies will see 45 candidates vying for victory. District Election Officer Deepesh Kumar confirmed Monday that six nominations were rejected during scrutiny, with only one candidate withdrawing. Lakhisarai district also finalized its candidate list, setting the stage for the upcoming polls.

The electoral landscape for the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 is taking clear shape in Saharsa district. Following the rigorous scrutiny of nomination papers and the conclusion of the withdrawal period for the first phase, a total of 45 candidates now remain in the fray across the district’s four assembly constituencies. This announcement was made by District Election Officer Deepesh Kumar during a press briefing on Monday.

Kumar detailed the final tally for each constituency. For the 74-Sonbarsha (Reserved) assembly constituency, out of seven candidates who initially filed their nominations, one was rejected during the scrutiny process. With no candidates opting to withdraw their names, six contenders are now poised to contest from this seat.

In the 75-Saharsa assembly constituency, 12 candidates had filed their nominations. Post-scrutiny, one nomination was rejected, and one candidate subsequently withdrew their candidature, leaving a final roster of ten individuals. The 76-Simri Bakhtiyarpur constituency saw 17 nominations, two of which were rejected during the review, resulting in 15 candidates remaining in the electoral battle, as no withdrawals were recorded. Similarly, for the 77-Mahishi assembly constituency, 17 nominations were received, with two being rejected. This constituency will now witness a contest among 14 candidates, with no withdrawals reported.

Across these four vital constituencies of Saharsa district, a total of six nomination papers were ultimately rejected after thorough verification. Beyond Saharsa, updates from Lakhisarai district also confirm the final candidate lists for its two assembly constituencies. In Lakhisarai, 13 candidates remain in the fray, while the Suryagarha constituency has eight contenders. Notably, neither of these constituencies saw any candidate withdrawals. All eligible candidates have now been allocated their respective election symbols, marking the next critical step towards the upcoming polls.
