East Champaran: Notorious Bounty Criminal Injured, Arrested in Rajepur Police Encounter

A notorious criminal, Sikandar Sahni, carrying a ₹25,000 bounty, was injured and arrested in a police encounter in East Champaran’s Rajepur on Monday morning. Acting on a tip-off, police confronted Sahni, who opened fire. Police retaliated, injuring him in the leg. A pistol, cartridges, and a bike were recovered, and a search for accomplices is ongoing.

East Champaran, Bihar: A notorious criminal, carrying a bounty of ₹25,000, was injured and subsequently arrested following a dramatic police encounter in the Rajepur police station area of East Champaran district on Monday morning. The shootout occurred when law enforcement officers, acting on credible intelligence, confronted the wanted individual.

Police Superintendent Swarn Prabhat confirmed the incident, identifying the arrested criminal as Sikandar Sahni alias Siki, a resident of Banarjhula, Pakaridayal. Authorities had received specific information indicating Sahni, known for his involvement in various criminal activities, was present in the Rajepur area, prompting a swift response.

Responding to the intelligence, a special police team, led by Pakaridayal Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Kumar Chandan, launched a targeted raid on the Madhuaha Turha Toli Mahmadpur Sagar road. Upon encountering the police, Sikandar Sahni immediately opened fire, initiating a brief but intense exchange of gunfire.

In a defensive action, police personnel retaliated, with a bullet striking Sahni in the leg, causing him to fall. He was promptly apprehended and rushed to Sadar Hospital for initial treatment, from where he was referred for advanced medical care. Police recovered a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, two spent casings, and an Apache motorcycle from Sahni’s possession. Efforts are currently underway to trace and apprehend other accomplices who reportedly fled the scene during the encounter.

The special team involved in the successful operation included Rajepur Station House Officer (SHO) Kumar Saurabh, Additional SHO Abhishek Kumar Upadhyay, alongside other dedicated police personnel and a unit from the Special Task Force (STF). The incident underscores the Bihar Police’s ongoing commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety in the region.
