New Delhi, India – The festive spirit of Diwali saw Congress MP Rahul Gandhi make a memorable stop at Old Delhi’s legendary Ghantewala sweet shop, an establishment synonymous with centuries of tradition and culinary excellence. His visit, however, turned uniquely personal when the shop’s owner extended a candid request.

Sushant Jain, the current proprietor of the iconic shop, which boasts a long-standing association with the Gandhi family, openly referred to Rahul Gandhi as India’s ‘most eligible bachelor.’ Seizing the moment, Jain lightheartedly pressed the politician to consider marriage soon, humorously stating, “We’re waiting, so that we can get the order for your wedding sweets too.”

Beyond the playful banter, Gandhi engaged actively, trying his hand at preparing traditional ‘imarti’ and ‘besan laddoo.’ Jain revealed a poignant detail, noting that the late Rajiv Gandhi, Rahul’s father, had a particular fondness for imarti, prompting Rahul to craft the delicacy himself. The visit was captured and later shared by Gandhi on X, showcasing his efforts.

During his interaction with the shop staff, Gandhi inquired about their Diwali celebrations, emphasizing that the true essence of the festival extends beyond the ‘thali’ to encompass relationships and community spirit.
